Grape varieties
The vines that we raise are the result of an accurate selection in time, with the aim of obtaining the best results in relation to the terroirs. Every wine has its own land of election and vice versa. Besides the autochthonous wines, that represent the heart of our production, we have chosen to raise a limited selection of other grape varieties: the ones that find the ideal conditions to express themselves in the particular pedoclimatic conditions of our territory.
Montepulciano d’Abruzzo
It is the main grape variety of the land of Abruzzi. It is an autochthonous variety that dominates in the last years and it is one of the best red wines in Italy, thanks to the work of producers and oenologists. Only in our hills it finds the ground and the weather conditions that permit to best express its qualities: these are the ones of a wine with an intense ruby red colour with brilliant violet shades, structured, balanced and round, properly alcoholic, poorly acidic and moderately tannic, with a wide perfume, vinous and fruity and with a dry flavour. A great wine.

Trebbiano d’Abruzzo
With its different names and clones, the Trebbiano is one of the most cultivated grape varieties in the world. And yet the origin of its long story is here, in Central Italy, where it had been appreciated by the ancient Romans before and where it continues to be very popular even today. It is present in Abruzzi since 1500 thanks to the warm and dry climate that offers it the ideal conditions for growth. The Trebbiano Abruzzese has a straw-yellow colour with brilliant light green shades, high acidity, good structure, a nice fruity perfume, a fresh flavour, savoury and balanced, with typical almond aftertaste.

Pecorino
Its name already expresses our land, the long and centuries-old roads of the transhumance that brush the vineyards. The Pecorino may belong to the ancient family of the Trebbiani, but is in any case a through and through autochthonous variety and is typical of the Adriatic regions of Central Italy, between the mountains and the sea. It has a straw-yellow colour with golden notes, with rather intense flower perfumes, fruit and spices, it has a medium acid level, slightly bitter, with a good structure. It is a wine of distinct typicality.

Sangiovese
The ancient Sanguis Jovis (Blood of Jupiter) of the Romans has become today the Italian grape variety of major success in the world. It is bond especially to Tuscany for some absolute excellent wines, however the pedoclimatic conditions to express itself are throughout Central Italy, and it prefers of heights from 300 to 450 metres, a warm and dry climate and calcareous earth. These are exactly the conditions in which it lives in our terroirs, giving ruby red coloured wine, soft, balanced and with a good structure, with perfumes of mature red fruit, fine spicy notes and hints of plum and tobacco.

Cabernet
There are people who would like to bring also the origin of the great vine variety from Bordeaux to Italy, claiming that in the beginning it was just the famous biturica celebrated by Pliny in antiquity, and introduced in the French region by the roman legionaries. We are only certain that the predilection of the grape variety for dry and aired climates and for clayey and well drained earth, enables us to best farm it in our land. The result is a ruby red coloured wine, with intense perfumes of mature red fruit, with typical herbaceous hints and fine spicy notes, with a harmonic flavour and velvety tannins.

Chardonnay
It is the white wine with a unique aroma which is born in the French regions Burgundy and Champagne. Today it has an extraordinary range of production areas all over the world, as well as clonal varieties of the vine. It is adaptable to different grounds and suffers only from climates that are too humid or cold. This is obviously not our case, and the grape variety flourishes safely in our land by giving us a wine that has a straw-yellow colour with light green and brilliant shades. Moreover it has a typical varietal flavour and it is fresh, soft and pleasant, with perfumes of exotic fruit, banana and mellow notes of yellow flowers.

Merlot
This French grape variety, which is a distant cousin of the Cabernet, has always enjoyed a minor prestige compared to the noble relative. But its world-wide distribution has demonstrated how it can generate an extraordinary rich and intense wine, especially in the warmer climates. Here with us the Merlot settled itself very well: the result is a wine that has a ruby red colour, with herbaceous hints and light spicy notes which fuse together with perfumes of mature fruit. It is fresh, harmonic, mid bodied, with good length and not without a certain elegance and typicality.

Pinot Grigio
It is farmed in Italy, especially in the Northern regions, but in our subzone the Pinot Grigio finds a slightly warmer climate, which is also mild and aired according to the preferences of the grape variety. The characteristics change and the wine gets richer and rounded by keeping the typical, fine honeyed note in the aroma. The colour is straw-yellow, the perfumes are fruity, with floral notes and hints of melon and lemon. The taste is fresh, pleasant and harmonic.
