We think
that wine cannot be invented.
Wine is made by the earth
The wine and the land
We think that wine cannot be invented. Wine is made by the earth. Somebody could have a different opinion today, and believe that everything starts from a perfect mix of chemistry and marketing. We don’t. We are farmers since many generations, with our roots put down in this territory between the Maiella and the sea, and we have learned that good wine is made of knowledge and love for the land in which you live. The technical mastery enhances what you collect, but everything starts with the raw material. All this has to be learned by listening to the wine beyond time and trends.
We are lucky because we cannot help but love the land in which we live. It seems created on purpose to grow the vine. Our first feeling towards the land is of gratitude for having us always rewarded for the hard work and sacrifices, also during the hard crops. Even today, when we see that our wine is appreciated in Rome, Berlin, Tokyo, Peking and Toronto, we find ourselves often thinking with a tender smile on our lips, about the humble and wonderful land that has generated it.
The character
During the meetings with friends and clients, it often happens that we end up talking more about our territory than about our wines. It is a matter of deep bonds. The town of Atessa in the southern part of the provincial Chieti, is the place where we live and work since ages. An area of hills, destined for the cultivation of the vine, with extraordinary terroirs: clay and limestone mixture and a unique microclimate, created thanks to the nearness to the sea on one side, and to the mountains of the Maiella on the other. It is also land of shepherds, that passed through the thousand-year old streets of transhumance, that interweave with the vines and leave a sign in the name of the grape varieties, like the Pecorino. All this is influenced our personality and the one of our wines: we are said to be pure, concrete, perfectionists but also have a trace of nomadic sensibility, which pays attention to pick up the scent of the wind and the fascination of distance and seasons.
There is a strong gastronomic tradition, pasta factories renowned all over the world, enhance the culinary heritage of Abruzzi
The place
Proudly close to the own rural values and the own traditions, this land starts to reveal its wealth to the world. We are appreciated by those who understand: namely an intelligent tourism, paying attention especially to the authenticity of the environment and the human relationships.
Only 15 km from us we have the Adriatic sea, with the suggestive “Costa dei Trabocchi”: a stretch of waterfront known for its naturalistic beauty and for the variety of backgrounds. It is named after the typical fishing machines that are on pile.
There is a strong gastronomic tradition, that reaches maybe its peak in the nearby city of Fara San Martino, where pasta factories renowned all over the world, enhance the culinary heritage of Abruzzi and the purity of raw materials, water in the first place.
The mountain is two steps away, with the unpolluted environment of the National Park of the Maiella and with the ski resort of Roccaraso.
There is a deep union between popular culture and sacred history, that expresses itself every day in the Church of the Eucharistical Miracle in the neighbouring Lanciano, which is a pilgrimage destination for thousands of people every year.
Furthermore, there are traces of a thousand-year-old history, in the archaeological site of the roman epoch of Juvanum, at Montenerodomo, and in the Megalithic Walls of Pallano.
Our beloved wine finally brings us to a successful conclusion, i.e. a world that represents maybe the essence of Italy that we all love: history, tradition, gastronomy and environment that are never betrayed, but rather improved by modernity.
